About Us
Sandy Lake Implement is located in Sandy Lake, PA and was founded in 1954 by Robert “Bob” and Betty Martin. The Martins started Sandy Lake Implement as an Allis Chalmers agency in the basement below their home. Allis Chalmers was responsible for many innovations in farm equipment. In 1957 the Martins started the process of moving the business out of their basement and into its own building. As Sandy Lake Implement prospered, the Martins continued to expand, in 1966 they added a showroom, shop and office.
In 1982, the Martins were ready to retire and offered the dealership to employees Robert Foster, David Kaltenbaugh, and William Klein. Sandy Lake Implement had weathered many industry and market changes including Allis Chalmers becoming the victim of rapidly changing financial times and was forced to sell the farm equipment division to K-H-Deutz AG of Germany in 1985. Deutz sold to AGCO in 1990.
Kaltenbaugh sold his shares to partners Foster and Klein in 1991. Over the next twenty-nine years Foster and Klein continued as a premier source for Allis Chalmers parts & service while offering quality machines from a variety of manufacturers including LS Tractor, American LandMaster, DR Power, Snapper Pro and Simplicity Manufacturing, which began with a contract for the Allis Chalmers lawn and garden line in 1962. Sandy Lake Implement remained the Gleaner combine parts and service headquarters for Western Pennsylvania.
Once again, with visions of retirement in the air, the proverbial passing of the baton occurred in 2020. Helena & Richard Bence and Rebekah & Scott Liese purchased Sandy Lake Implement from Foster and Klein. Both Helena and Scott have been a part of the Sandy Lake Implement family since the early 2000s. Enthusiasm fills the air as Sandy Lake Implement embraces the longstanding manufactures that have brought the company to this point but also strive to be industry innovators and pursue products that will meet the needs of our eco-friendly consumers. Sandy Lake Implement is pleased to offer electric UTVs (side by side), a full line of battery powered yard tools and a full line of electric zero turn and stand-on mowers manufactured by Mean Green. Sandy Lake Implement is excited to continue the traditions and legacy of being a "family" owned business and are eager to serve the next generation of farmers, homeowners, and power-sport enthusiasts, as well as municipalities, colleges & universities, non-profits, hospitals, and various other consumer bases.
Sandy Lake Implement has a rock-solid reputation of providing excellent service, support, and satisfaction. We pride ourselves on giving our customers the best service available, the best parts and accessories, and a staff that understands all aspects of their business.
